Mod Sun: Nearly Stabbed by Machine Gun Kelly, Surviving Homelessness, and Being Told “No”

Today, I speak with Mod Sun (@ModSun), a rapper originally from Minnesota who is now based out of LA. Mod Sun, which stands for Moving On Dreams Standing Under None, brings his ingenious perspective to The Auxoro Podcast.

Despite waking up in New York, Mod Sun isn’t quite sure he really is awake. In our conversation, Mod explains how his perception changed as he recreates his “breakthrough” moment as an artist: the moment when he found purpose. Also, Mod discusses how his use of hallucinogens helped him to unlock the next steps of his career.

Mod also redefines what it means to be selfish, explaining that it should never be wrong to take care of yourself. He also shares his mindset of slow growth over a rocket rise to fame, and a close encounter with Machine Gun Kelly.

When you walk into a house party, let’s say you don’t know anyone there or whose house you’re at. Are you going to be the one that goes and sits in the corner? I promise you you won’t make any friends doing that. When I walk into the room, I want to be unapologetic about being down with being embarrassed. Embarrassment is the enemy of being yourself.
